PostHeaderIcon Thoughts On Interactive Training For Cisco CCNA

If you’re interested in Cisco training and you haven’t worked with routers before, then the course you should go for is CCNA. This course is designed to teach people with practical know how on routers. Commercial ventures who have different locations need routers to connect their networks in different buildings to allow their networks to keep in touch. The Internet is also built up of hundreds of thousands of routers.

Getting this certification will mean it’s likely you’ll end up working for large commercial ventures that have various different locations, but still need contact. On the other hand, you might end up joining internet service providers. This specialised skill set is highly paid.

Qualifying up to the CCNA level is where you should be aiming; don’t be pushed into attempting your CCNP. With experience, you will have a feel for if this level is required. If so, your experience will serve as the background you need to master your CCNP – because it’s a difficult qualification to master – and mustn’t be entered into casually.

Often, trainers provide a shelf full of reference manuals. Obviously, this isn’t much fun and isn’t the best way to go about achieving retention.

Recent studies into the way we learn shows that memory is aided when we involve as many senses as possible, and we get physically involved with the study process.

Search for a course where you’re provided with an array of DVD-ROM’s – you’ll learn by watching video tutorials and demonstrations, and be able to fine-tune your skills in fully interactive practice sessions.

It makes sense to see some examples of the kind of training materials you’ll be using before you make your decision. You should expect videoed instructor demonstrations and interactive modules with audio-visual elements.

Some companies only have access to training that is purely available online; sometimes you can get away with this – but, imagine the problems if your access to the internet is broken or you get intermittent problems and speed issues. It’s much safer to rely on DVD or CD discs that will not have these problems.

You have to make sure that all your certifications are current and commercially required – you’re wasting your time with programs that lead to in-house certificates.

Only fully recognised certification from the likes of Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco and CompTIA will open the doors to employers.

The perhaps intimidating chore of finding your first role in IT is often relieved because some trainers offer a Job Placement Assistance programme. The need for this feature can be bigged up out of proportion though – it’s easy for their marketing department to overplay it. At the end of the day, the still growing need for IT personnel in the UK is why employers will be interested in you.

One important thing though, don’t wait till you’ve finished your training before updating your CV. The day you start training, list what you’re working on and get promoting!

It’s possible that you won’t have even passed your first exam when you land your first junior support job; although this can’t and won’t happen if your CV isn’t in front of employers.

If it’s important to you to find work near your home, then you’ll often find that a local IT focused recruitment consultancy might be of more use than a centralised service, as they are much more inclined to be familiar with the local job scene.

A good number of trainees, so it seems, are prepared to study their hearts out (for years sometimes), only to do nothing special when trying to get a good job. Promote yourself… Do your best to get in front of employers. Don’t expect a job to just fall into your lap.

Throw out a salesperson that recommends a training program without an in-depth conversation to assess your abilities and level of experience. Always check they have access to a wide-enough product range so they’re actually equipped to give you a program that suits you..

Sometimes, the training start-point for a trainee with some experience is often massively dissimilar to someone just starting out.

If this is your first crack at studying for an IT examination then you might also want to begin with some basic PC skills training first.
