The Relation Between Space And Colors
Colors we use for painting our houses can change both our interior design and our state of mind. As chromo-therapists tell us, colors can create moods in our house, that is why it is so important to choose the right color for the right room.
Receding colors are the cold colors which widen the space; if you want to add more space to a small room, you should choose cold colors like of green, blue or violet. If you also buy a water resistant, easy to use paint leaving no wall odor, you will feel all the more comfortable in your cozy room.
If warm colors like orange, yellow and red are associated with summer and autumn, cool colors like blue, green or violet are the shades of winter and spring. That could be a good starting point for creating a room design inspired by nature. After all, flowers give us the best lesson about complementary colors. We can see a lot of green beside red or shades of violet and yellow nicely co-existing.
If you want to embellish a small bedroom, creating a design that inspires calm and serenity, choose a white and blue color palette. If you add matching sheets and pillows, you will obtain a heavenly atmosphere. If the room is already small, don’t put too much furniture inside, or use small pieces of furniture in the same color as the walls.
To create the idea of wider space in a hall or a kitchen, light green makes a good choice. But it is important to paint all surfaces in the same shade. By keeping floors darker and the walls lighter, the floor may seem to expand. The same visual effect can be obtained for a low ceiling; paint it a lighter shade than the walls and it will seem higher. If you use the deepest tone of color near the floor and the lightest shade on the ceiling, it will also give an illusion of wider space.
And color is not the only thing you should carefully choose when decorating; for a professionally designed room, good quality paint is also necessary. You don’t want any wall odor behind you, so choose the environmentally friendly odorless paint that will make your painting job easier, also giving you durable results.
