There are new cases every week where children have been engrossed in their game so much that they get excited and inadvertently let go of the handset, which in turn smashes against the TV screen and damages it. It might be a scratch or it might be crack; either way, it will be expensive, or even impossible, to repair.
Unfortunately, fixing a cracked TV screen is not as easy as replacing an internal circuit board inside the television. A cracked TV screen needs to be totally replaced. The cost for this is often the same as buying a whole new television. Some rich people can buy a new TV as when they want one but, for most of us, losing that much money is difficult, even tragic.
When I my children are playing on the console I notice they get very competitive and start moving closer to the screen. So, what I do is put an obstacle in their way which I tell them that they are not allowed to pass. If they do they know I will ban them from using the console for a week or two. This works very well, but it is not the best option.
There is a solution though, which is to use a TV screen protector. These deceptively simple pieces of equipment, which are very cheap in comparison to the cost of repairing, or even replacing a TV, are there to take the damage, whilst the TV screen behind them remains untouched.
A Good protector should be at least a quarter of an inch thick, and should securely firmly to your TV. That is not to say that the protector screen should sit directly on top of the plasma screen (there should in fact be a slight gap), but that a slight knock will not cause the protector screen to fall off.
Occasional cleaning will be necessary, but will be needed less often than you are currently having to wipe down your TV screen now. They are also much easier to clean, as you do not have to worry about what you spray on them or how hard you wipe.
