Why choose blankets over throws?
A blanket is a large piece of cloth that helps the person to stay warm, during freezing conditions. Blankets are being used all around the world and there are various types of blankets currently available in the market. Some of the very common names for the types of blankets are: Comforters, Duvets and Quilts.
These types of blankets are generally made up of different types of materials and have distinct qualities, some are light weight while some are heavy, some have breathable ambiance while some don’t. Blankets are used by most people around the globe.
Talking about blankets, did you ever know we also have horse blankets? Ever saw a horse wearing a coat? That’s called a horse blanket. A saddle blanket is also very familiar and is used on the horse, below the saddle, intended to protect the horse’s back from the saddle’s pressure points.
Not only that, blankets are also used for other purposes like sitting on a dirty surface. People mostly put the blanket on sand, grass or muddy area in order to sit on it and to prevent themselves from getting dirty, for this purpose we have different a different type blanket, generally called as “temporary blankets”
Blankets are not only used to put on and sleep, but are also used to sit on as well. You would have noticed people put the blanket on the dirty floor and then sit on the blanket to avoid the dirt(sand, wet area or muddy area, etc.). There are blankets especially made to put on dirty surfaces and to sit on, those are generally called as “temporary blankets”. These come cheap and can be disposed if needed to.
While duvet blankets are mostly filled of “fur” or “down feathers” or can also be a combination of both, duvets are used in extreme cold and can be very insulating; these duvets are probably flat rather than puffy. A quilt is another kind of a blanket and is generally made up of small pieces of different materials(such as silk, cotton etc) and then stitched up together to form one big blanket.
Another use of a blanket is wrapping, you would have definitely seen a new born baby wrapped in a blanket to keep it warm and prevent any discomfort a baby might feel. When stepping out during winters, people mostly wrap themselves inside the blanket and relax.
There are blankets that are made of synthetic fibers, especially designed to reduce the weight of the blanket, they are very soft and cuddly but they do not provide a breathable ambiance for the sleeper, while the natural fibers are generally made of wool, cotton or both. These provide a more breathable ambiance for the sleeper, than the synthetic fiber. So depending on the needs of the user, material used and undoubtedly budget, the type of blankets are to

Are You Sexy and Confident Enough to Wear A Cleopatra Costume?
Are you thinking of wearing a Cleopatra costume this Halloween? This year I definitely plan to dress up as Cleopatra, the top Egyptian symbol of beauty, femininity and mystique. Even though her features were nowhere near perfect, her aura and charisma won many hearts over including those of Marc Antony and Caesar.
The enduring image of Cleopatra for many is the one created by Elizabeth Hurley, another symbol of beauty, in the classic movie ‘Cleopatra’. The scene where she emerges out of an unfurled carpet has long since characterized the enigma that Cleopatra creates. Elizabeth Taylor’s rendition of Cleopatra is also timeless.

The scene where she emerges out of an unfurled carpet has long since characterized the enigma that Cleopatra creates. Elizabeth Taylor’s rendition of Cleopatra in the movie of the same name, from years earlier, is also considered timeless.
Other colors which can be used as a gown are gold, yellow, burnt orange or even black. A Golden, or any metallic, wide belt at the center of the dress would complete the look. If the belt is not available a golden or silver piece of fabric could be tied around the waist as a Sash. And using a sheer fabric as a cape would accentuate the sensuality of the costume.
And don’t forget things like armbands and bracelets too. You can easily create armbands to add to your Cleopatra outfit. And don’t forget the headpiece. It can easily be made with dangling chains to highlight the dramatic appearance of the hair and by adding a pair of Gladiator style footwear, and Voila, the perfect Cleopatra costume.
And if you’re looking for accessories and other cheap jewelry for your own Cleopatra costume don’t forget your local thrift stores and dollar stores – they have plenty of beads and charms. I’ll bet even your children’s jewelry might work, depending on what your kids have in their collection of costume jewelry. Just remember, the focus point of the jewelry should be large metallic pieces – elaborate and larger than life is what you want – just like Cleopatra herself.
And who says your gown has to be white? Other gown colors could be gold, yellow, burnt orange or even black. A Golden wide belt at the center of the dress would certainly complete the look. No belt? Then how about a golden or silver piece of fabric? And by adding a sheer piece of fabric as a cape, then this would accentuate the sensuality and femininity of the costume.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, hair and makeup are essential parts of any Cleopatra costume. Her poker straight, shoulder length black hair with sharp bangs are iconic. This look can either be created using your own hair if possible or by wearing a Cleopatra wig – your choice.
Remember, no one can carry off a Cleopatra costume unless they also possess confidence and sensuality that Cleopatra possessed. So, if you want to be Cleopatra and you want to learn more about Cleopatra wigs and other Cleopatra costume tips – then visit: cleopatra-costumes.org
Colored And White Nursing Uniforms
The only similarity between nursing uniforms and normal clothing is that they come in different colors and different designs just as normal clothes. However, these garbs do not come in colors such as green and red. Some have a white hue while some are blue and a number of them are gray. A uniform for a nurse can be a stylish dress, a comfortable pant or a functional tunic.
Inside a modern hospital, most medical personnel have white aprons. In the hospitals of the earlier centuries when nursing was still a very new concept, doctors used to wear white aprons just as the modern doctors. Nurses were required to wear grayish dresses. Some nurses used to accompany the grayish dresses with white aprons. The aprons were optional for nurses.
The grey dress was a favorite of Florence Nightingale. Every nurse in the world knows who this eminent person is. Some scholars consider Nightingale to be the mother of nursing. This nurse features in a number of books some of which contain medical information and some which contain historic information. Most historians have lauded the role Nightingale played in saving lives during Crimean war.
As time progressed, white dresses became the standard apparel of this profession. The color white was preferred partly because of its symbolism. On one end, the color white symbolizes peace and on the other end it symbolizes cleanliness. In this profession, the main reason for the love of the color white can be speculated to be the fact that white symbolizes cleanliness and hygiene. Lack of hygiene is the major cause of many diseases while hygienic living prevents many diseases.
A nurse in white apparel can be easily traced by a patient. White is a very visible color even if one is in a crowd. Very few people wear white dresses therefore a person adorned in a white dress will be easily traced in a crowd. It reached a time in this profession when colored garbs were more popular than the white ones. Colored attire is preferred by many people because they do not show stains and dirt. This makes them to be used for a long period of time without being washed. However, with white attire, one will be forced to wash it on a regular basis because it reveals stains. Irrespective of the color of nursing attire, it should be washed on a regular basis.
Not everyone is a fanatic of white attire just as not everyone likes full dresses. Long dress will impress some nurses while some will be impressed by comfortable pants. Dresses, aprons and pants made for medical personnel are made using light weight material that is easy to wash. The dressing code of a hospital or clinic should be followed when working in the medical facility as a nurse. In some clinics, the dressing code stipulates that blue dresses are the order of the day.
In earlier centuries, it was a requirement for all nurses to put on long dresses and to cover the dresses with aprons. Many nurses complained that dresses were not comfortable and were hard to work in. As a result of the complaints, tunics and pants started to be used. Pants are very comfortable.
Nursing uniforms as well as Mobb Medical are available in a number of colors. These colors include white, blue, dark grey and black. Different people have different color preferences. These garbs are also available in different styles and designs.
Customize your medical scrubs or mobb medical clothing. Brighten your patients day with custom nursing uniforms.
Star Trek Uniforms – Past – Present – Future
Male and female officers wore very similar uniforms back when the first and original Star Trek television series began. The ladies uniform consisted of a velour type shirt, accentuated by black boots with tights, and a black skirt, which was rather short. On rare occasions, you would see one or more of them wearing black pants instead of the black skirt. Star Trek uniforms for the men were very similar to the ladies, consisting of the black boots, black pants, and the velour shirt with the Star Trek symbol affixed to the left sleeve. The shirt color, from the very beginning, would be used to identify the duties each performed.
Three primary Star Trek shirt colors were worn in the beginning. Commanders wore the gold shirts while engineering and operations wore a beige colored shirt, and the medical, security, and science were grouped together and wore blue shirts. From the pilot to the original production, designs did change. You’re probably more familiar with the early Kirk episodes, where command and helm wore gold and green while operations, engineering, and security wore red and science and medical wore blue.
The Star Trek insignia consisting of the arrowhead logo, would also denote the branch of service. For command personnel, a star was used, for science and medical, a circle superimposed with an oval, and for the operations and engineering, an angular spiral would denote the wearer’s area of expertise. In the case of officers that were assigned to other star bases or star ships, very similar Star Trek uniforms were worn; however, the arrowhead insignia was replaced with various logos or patches denoting the base of assignment or the star ship on which they served.
There were many changes that took place over the next few years, although few of them lasted very long or met with much approval at all. Even from movie to movie, different directors insisted on different uniforms, and eventually all gray and all red uniforms were tossed aside for colored uniforms that once again used color to denote both rank and specialty.
In the most recent Star Trek show, “Enterprise,” Star Trek uniforms were changed back to blue jumpsuits. Rank could be told by the colored piping around the shoulders, which also indicated what position each uniformed person held. Flight control or command wore the gold piping, classic red went to security and engineering, while communications, science, and medical were all grouped together with the blue piping. The comparison to those uniforms has been made to modern NASA uniforms, and speculation is that was intentional. That show does give one obvious exception to the Enterprise’s uniform code, and that is for the very attractive character T’Pol. Similar to former Borg Seven of Nine in Voyager, apparently her figure looked so great in a spandex jumpsuit that the captain must just have allowed it.
Be assured that your next costume party will be a big hit with a Star Trek uniforms. A noteworthy designer, Rebecca Coale, recommends this costume for a memorable party for you and your loved one. She has some recommendations at her website for the best Star Trek costumes. Check it out now.
How Fashionable Clothing Brands In USA Changed The Face Of Fashion
Fashionable clothing brands in USA are following in an age old tradition. There has always been an interest in fashion and clothing. In biblical history, Jacob showed his love for Joseph with a multi-colored coat. Chinese emperors were depicted with ornately detailed robes. Rich men and women of Europe went all out with wigs, tights, buckles and frills. People’s interest in style hasn’t changed, but the looks certainly have.
Traditional styles were brought to America with the early immigrants. While styles overseas continued to change, the immigrants were more concerned with surviving their harsh new home than what their old neighbors were wearing. Eventually, they moved from survival mode to an established society, but ruggedness and endurance have remained hallmarks of the American trend.
In 1873, one of America’s first brands, Levi Strauss & Co., put its name on the first blue jeans, the quintessential mark of American style. Remarkably, this current, worldwide fashion statement was created for working men; men who needed tough material and rivets at stress points in their work clothes.
Van Heusen, represented in Geoffrey Beene, Gant, Izod and Van Heusen brands, had its birth in the working class of coal miners in Pennsylvania. Its first garment was flannel shirts sewn by the founder’s wife and sold from a push cart in the 1880′s. Today, Van Heusen markets higher end business casual and suits.
In 1936, Eddie Bauer patented the first goose down insulated jacket, and was providing the U. S. Army Air Corps with goose down products only six years later. The puffy, warm outerwear became a point of style.
Jeans and T-shirts became the staple pieces that elevated many of the successful American brands today. This is evidence of the attitude that respects a person more if they earn their millions through hard work than if they inherit them. This casual style didn’t just stay in America. Societies that shunned function in favor of form have traded it in for comfort and service.
With the survival phase in the past, the laborer’s look has evolved. Jeans are paired with dress shirts and suit coats, with plain T-shirts underneath. International runways commonly demonstrate this typically American style with T-shirts and classic jeans.
Calvin Klein is famous for bringing American style to the world. Liz Claiborne started her line to provide affordable, stylish clothes for working women in America. Names such as The Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, Aeropostale, Zumiez, Pacific Sunwear, American Eagle Outfitters, Abercrombie & Fitch and hundreds more have become symbolic of American style. Fashionable clothing brands in the USA will continue to produce this iconic attitude as long as there are people interested in comfortable, trendy clothing.
