Living Green Is No More A Dream!
Living green is no more a dream. It has become the necessity. Humans have learnt their lessons the hard way; by inviting record-breaking floods, increase in the number of thunderstorms, earthquakes, and rising sea levels.
Building green is a process whereby you build a sustainable habitat that naturally stems out of the ecosystem. Through this you become more energy efficient. And you recycle, reuse, and reduce! And the most amazing thing is the green homes are healthier, safer, and have low maintenance costs.
The solar energy entering your house through the windows, sun roofs can be enhanced by paving your floor with stones and having reflectors in you live in colder areas. If you live the warmer zones then you should face your house’s broad side towards the north or the south so that when the sun is on the horizon, it does not make your house warm unnecessarily. Also you should put a solar screen to shield the grass from direct sunlight.
The higher vents should be placed to catch prevailing breezes. There should be lower inflow windows too to keep the air in circulation as hot air goes up and cooler air descends. To reduce heat transfers a double glass window should be used.
Rooftop also regulates temperature. Lighter coloured roof absorbs less heat. Also, insulating exterior walls and attic keeps the indoor temperature that it’s best in all climates.
Next you should optimize your AC systems. A bigger system is not appropriate and very costly. Using a smaller system which does not cool very quickly helps in reaching the desired temperature too and keeping the air clear of humidity.
Coming to the natural landscape it should be best suited to catch the rainfall in your area. When making the ground one should use water pervious material such crushed granite so that water can seep into the ground. Remember to keep as much native growth on the land as possible to give house a natural green look.
Moving on to recycling stuff, in gardening, use yard waste and leaves as mulch. Plan out a space where you can sort the recycled house trash. Recycled floor woods are very exciting reuse of material. Remember: Recycle, reuse, reduce!
